Connecting to the Eduroam Network

Eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. Using their home institution's credentials, Eduroam provides students, researchers, faculty, and staff internet connectivity when visiting other participating institutions. Click on the options below to expand their content.

Instructions for Android -

  1. From your home screen or apps library, open the settings app.
  2.  From the settings app click on "Connections."
  3. Inside connections, click on "Wi-Fi."
  4. Locate the network named "eduroam."
  5. Enter your personal login credentials from your educational institution, do not click "Connect" yet (at UCF this would be your NID and NID password).
  6. Under the dropdown menu for "CA certificate" select "Don't validate."
  7. Click on "Connect."
  8. Congratulations! You are now connected to the eduroam network. 

 

Instructions for iOS -                                                                     

  1. From your home screen or apps library, open the settings app.
  2. From the settings app click on "Wi-Fi."
  3. Locate the network named "eduroam" and click on it.
  4. Enter your personal login credentials from your educational institution and click "Join" (at UCF this would be your NID and NID password).
  5. Click "Trust" when the certificate prompt appears.
  6. Congratulations! You are now connected to the eduroam network.

 

Instructions for Windows -

  1. From the taskbar, click on the start icon.
  2. Search for the settings app and open it.
  3. From the settings app click on "Network & Internet."
  4. Click on "Wi-Fi."
  5. Click on "Show available networks."
  6. Locate the network named "eduroam" and click on it.
  7. Click "Connect."
  8. Enter your personal login credentials from your educational institution and click "OK" (at UCF this would be your NID and NID password).
  9. If a "Continue connecting?" prompt appears, click on "Connect."
  10. Congratulations! You are now connected to the eduroam network.

Instructions for MacOS -

  1. In the menu bar locate the "spotlight" icon (or use the shortcut of cmd+space) to open the search bar.

  2. Search for the system settings app and open it.
  3. From the system settings app locate the "Wi-Fi" and click on it.
  4. Locate the network named "eduroam" and click on it.
  5. Enter your personal login credentials from your educational institution and click "OK" (at UCF this would be your NID and NID password).
  6. Click "continue" when the verify certificate prompt appears.
  7. Congratulations! You are now connected to the eduroam network.
