Search & Replace is a powerful tool in Webcourses that allows you to find all instances of a given word, phrase, or character string in your course content, and replace some or all instances with another word, phrase, or character string.
In your course navigation sidebar, look for and launch 'Faculty Tools'.
In Faculty Tools, look for Search & Replace in the Course Tools section, and click 'Launch'.
If it is your first time using the tool, you will be prompted to authorize the tool. This allows the application to access and make changes to your course content.
Enter search term: Enter the term you would like to find all instances of in your course content.
Case sensitive: Use this option if you only want to match results with the exact capitalization as your search.
Search Raw HTML: Use this option if you need to search for special characters such as '&', '<', '>', etc.
Enter replacement term: Enter the term you would like to replace the search term with.
Select instances to replace: Use the provided checkboxes to select which instances of the search term you would like to replace. You can select all instances at once by clicking the 'Select All' button.
Replace: Click 'Replace' and accept the confirmation prompt to replace the selected instances of the search term with the replacement term. If you are replacing more than 50 instances or a term with 3 or fewer characters, you will be prompted to type 'confirm' before proceeding.
View task status: You should see a status message indicating the progress of each page's replacements. Once the tasks are successful, you may close the tool or proceed to enter a new search term.
