The Yellowdig Link is Pointing to the Wrong Community

If the Yellowdig button in your course menu is linking to the wrong community, follow these steps:

In your current Webcourses@UCF online section:
- Click on Settings
- Click on Apps tab
- Click on View App Configurations – if there are two Yellowdigs, remove the one which has a cog next to it
Access the wrong Yellowdig community and unlink it. That community still exists in Yellowdig but is no longer linked to the current online section.
Access the current Webcourses@UCF online section. Create the new Yellowdig community.
If students already started posting in the wrong community, you can either: (1) ask those students to post in the new community or (2) copy and paste the posts into the new community [this will technically make the teacher the author, so you will need to make sure to add manual points for the students].

Grades are Not Syncing to Webcourses

If a student’s Yellowdig points are not syncing with the gradebook in Webcourses, ask them to access the Yellowdig assignment, which will establish their connection between Yellowdig and Webcourses. It is advised not to place direct links to Yellowdig in announcements until after the first week or two since students’ first access should come from the Yellowdig assignment, not a link placed elsewhere.

In Webcourses, check that the Yellowdig assignment is set up correctly.
In the Yellowdig Community, check these two areas under Management:
- LMS Assignment Link: This will let you know if there is an error with the community linking to the Webcourses assignment. If it shows an error, you can reconnect the community to the correct assignment.
- Grade Passback: If you do fix the assignment in the step above, you can then come to this area next to refresh the grades. Otherwise, if there is no issue with the link, you can still come to this area to try resyncing the grades to the Webcourses gradebook.

What happens to points after disabling a Topic?

When you disable a topic that was previously earning points, students keep the points they earned before it was disabled. If members of the community comment on a post labeled with a disabled topic, the commenter will not earn points unless the initial post was labeled with multiple topics and one of those topics is still active and points-earning. For example, a post with the topic “Introduction” will not earn points for posting or commenting on other “Introduction” posts if the “Introduction” topic is disabled. However, commenting on a post with the topics “Introduction” and “Photosynthesis” would earn the commenter points if “Photosynthesis” is still an enabled topic.
