Signing into Microsoft Teams for the first time if you're a student.

Sign-in to Microsoft Teams (desktop version)

Sign-in Address
Your Microsoft Teams sign-in address is always NID@ucf.edu


To open Microsoft Teams:
  1. Locate the Start menu option.
  2. Type Microsoft Teams in the search bar.
  3. Select Microsoft Teams. 

Sign-in using UCF credentials 

  1. In the Sign-in Address field, enter NID@ucf.edu
  2. Click Next.
  3. In the Password field, enter your NID password.
  4. Click Sign in.

    5.  After a successful NID login, you will be asked to register your NID with MS Authenticator. Please click the 'Next' button as seen below:

     

     

    6.  Next, you will be asked to download the MS Authenticator app if your device has not been installed. 

    a. If you do not have the MS Authenticator App installed on a personal device (such as a smartphone), please select the 'Download now' link in arrow 1. 
    b. Once downloaded, or if you already have MS Authenticator installed on your device, please select 'Next' shown in arrow 2.

     

    UCF strongly encourages using the MS Authenticator app as your primary MFA method. However, suppose you do not choose to use the MS Authenticator app. You may also use a FIDO2 Security Key or your phone number by clicking on the 'I want to set up a different method' link in the image's bottom left corner.

     

    7. Please open the MS Authenticator app on your device. On the main Authenticator screen, you will see a '+' sign allowing you to  add a new account to the app. 

    a.    Click the '+' sign.
    b.    You will be asked what type of account you are registering for. Please select 'Work or school account.'

    8. Select 'Next' on your web browser as seen below:



    9. Your web browser will now show a QR code, as seen in the example below. You may scan this QR code with your device by  selecting the 'Scan a QR Code' option.  Please note that you will need to scan the QR code with the MS Authenticator app. Using a generic QR reader will result in a registration error. 


     10. After scanning the QR code with the MS Authenticator app, your web browser will ask you to approve the request using the MS Authenticator app. 

    11. Once the number has been entered into MS Authenticator and is recognized by the app, your web browser will load a screen  noting that your MFA authentication was approved:

    12. Congratulations! Your MS Authenticator registration is successful and complete!

    You may now click the 'Done' button to close the registration page and be taken to the application you initially logged into. 

     

Note: Your UCF username and password will be automatically saved after the first successful login.

 

Sign-in to Microsoft Teams for Mac


Sign-in Address
Your Microsoft Teams sign-in address is always NID@ucf.edu



To Sign-in to MS Teams: 
  1. Click the Finder icon in your dock.
  2. Select the Applications category on the sidebar.
  3. Search for Microsoft Teams and double click to open.
  4. Click Get Started.
  5. Type in your UCF NID username (Example: NID@ucf.edu).
  6. Click Next.
  7. Type in your NID password.
  8. Click Sign in.

    9.  After a successful NID login, you will be asked to register your NID with MS Authenticator. Please click the 'Next' button as seen below:

     

     

    10.  Next, you will be asked to download the MS Authenticator app if your device has not been installed.

    17. A notification that “Microsoft Teams would like to use Bluetooth.” might appear. To confirm Bluetooth access, click OK.
    18. Teams is now available to open. Click the Teams app icon ​ in your dock, or search “Teams” with the Spotlight Search.
    19. To view the welcome walkthrough information, click Let’s do this! or close the welcome walkthrough screen.

    Note: Your UCF username and password will be automatically saved after the first successful login.
