This guide will give a general overview with information for instructors regarding viewing and downloading files in Honorlock.

Anytime the camera and screen recording options are selected in an exam’s Honorlock settings, you will have the ability to download the video recordings of each from the Honorlock menu in Canvas in the form of .mp4 files.

How to Retrieve Files

1. Click on the Honorlock LTI menu in Canvas.

2. Select the Results tab to the right of the exam, then navigate to the Student Session menu for the student in question by clicking on View Session.

3. After opening the Student Session, below the student’s webcam recording, click on the Download icon.

4. After you have clicked the Download icon, a menu will open with various options. Click on Download: Webcam Video in order to download an .mp4 file of the student’s webcam recording. Or, click on Download: Screencapture Video in order to download an .mp4 file of the student’s screen while they were taking the test.

5. Clicking any of these options will open a new page in Canvas with a preview of the file. Right-click on the preview, then click Save As.

6. This will then open the File menu in your web browser. Feel free to choose a folder or use the folder that was opened by default by your browser. A random assortment of numbers and letters will be listed in the File Name section. Feel free to change the name and click Save or simply hit Save if you do not need to change the file’s name.

7. The files will then appear in your computer’s File Explorer.
