Panopto makes uploading your Zoom videos easy. You’ll have a choice of 2 different video viewing options to choose from. Option 1, your viewers will watch a single video window that alternates between your camera and shared screen. With option 2, you will have a dual video window, with your camera in one window, and your shared content in the other. These 2 video windows play simultaneously, and each can be expanded to full screen.
Option 1
- Sign into your Zoom account at ucf.zoom.us and click on the Recordings tab.

- Click on the name of the recording that you wish to download.
- Find the file that says Shared screen with speaker view. Hover your mouse over that file, and click the downward arrow button to download the file to your computer.
NOTE: You may find that your “shared screen with speaker view” doesn’t include a picture in picture view, but shows mostly your screen. This cannot be changed for any recordings already made. If you would like to have a picture in picture view for future recordings, sign in at ucf.zoom.us → settings → recording → record thumbnails when sharing (under cloud recordings).

- Download the Audio transcript to include the captions for your video. This will be a .vtt file. NOTE: If for some reason you do not have an audio transcript file, there is an easy way to create and edit automatic captions within Panopto.

- Next, go to ucf.hosted.panopto.com, and sign in using the Webcourses option.
- Once signed in, go to your Private folder. Your private folder will be found by going to browse and looking under a folder called “Panopto Private Folders.” You should see your folder name once you click the drop down arrow.
- In your private folder, click the gold Create button at the top of the page. You can either Create a New Folder, if you want to organize your videos, and then upload media. Or, you can simply click on Upload Media.

- Once finished processing, hover the mouse over the video and click on Edit.

NOTE: When Zoom files are downloaded, the entire video is there, even if you trimmed the video playback in Zoom. Be sure to edit your video, if needed. Click here for help on editing in Panopto: https://support.panopto.com/s/article/Edit-a-Video.
If you don’t need to edit the video, skip ahead to see how to upload the audio transcript file.
Option 2
- Under the Recordings tab in Zoom, click on the name of the video you want to download.
- Download the separate files for Speaker view, Shared screen, and Audio transcript.

- Log into Panopto and go to your Private folder (see directions above).
- Click on Upload media. First, select the file for your speaker view. Wait for it to upload and then close the window.
- Once the video has finished processing, hover the mouse over the video and click on Edit.

- On the left, click on the Streams tab, and then click on Add Stream.

- Click on the area for adding a secondary video, and select your shared screen file.

- When the video is done being processed, the page will refresh itself and you will see the 2 windows for your videos.

NOTE: When Zoom files are downloaded, the entire video is there, even if you edited the video in Zoom. Be sure to edit your video, if needed. Click here for help: https://support.panopto.com/s/article/Edit-a-Video.
Adding Audio Transcript
- In the Panopto editor, click on the Captions tab on the left hand side.
- You will see a dropdown menu under Import captions. Click on Upload captions. If you do not have an audio transcript file from Zoom, click on Import automatic captions.
- NOTE: automatic captions are not perfect and will need to be edited.

- Once you upload the caption file, you will see this pop up, letting you know that the caption file was added.

- Refresh the page and you will be able to see the captions when you play the video.
- Important! Click on Apply in the upper right corner, after you have finished importing and editing your captions, or they won’t be saved for your video.
- Whenever you need the video for your course to be available, you simply need to move it from your private folder to your course folder. See below for directions on moving your video.
Moving video from Private to Course Folder
- If you need to use your video for a class, you can move the video from your private folder, to the class folder.
- Place the cursor over the video that you want to move and click on the box to select the video. You will then see some options appear at the top of the page. Click on Move.

- From the dropdown box, select the class folder where you want the video to go. Then, click Move.
