Do you have PowerPoint presentations that you share with the students in your online course materials? If you have been reusing your PowerPoints for the last few years, the version may be out-of-date and incompatible with the newer versions of Microsoft Office, thus preventing students from being able to view the presentation. The UCF Computer Labs report, more than ever, they are seeing students being impacted by old PowerPoint presentations, which results in calls to you, time lost working with Support, and late assignment submissions by students.

How can you update these files when you are preparing for your upcoming courses?

• In the Files area of your course, type .ppt in your Search bar and click the magnifier icon. A list of all your PowerPoint files in your course will be displayed.
• If a file has the .ppt file extension, download the file and open it in PowerPoint.
• In PowerPoint, click File, then Save As.
• You can leave the file name as is, but be sure to update the file format to PowerPoint Presentation (.pptx), then click Save.
• Re-upload the file to the Files area of your course and update any links in your course to point to the new file.

If you already have copies of your PowerPoints saved locally, it is even easier. Directions for updating your PowerPoint presentation are also available from Microsoft Support.
