How to use Intel Unite


This document will guide you through the steps on how to download, install, and utilize Intel Unite. Intel Unite is a content and collaboration sharing technology being deployed on the Main Campus & Downtown. Members of the UCF community can use the Intel Unite app to wirelessly share their laptop, phone, or tablet screen to displays in classrooms, conference rooms, and collaboration spaces where Intel Unite is available.

Installation

Installing the Intel Unite Client on your computer via Software Center.

Note: Software Center is available on many UCF computers and is the best method of installing the Intel Unite Client. If you are not on campus connect to the UCF VPN before launching Software Center. If your computer does not have Software Center installed, please skip to Step 3 for manual installation instructions.

Step 1 – Open Software Center from the desktop icon.

Step 2 - Select the ‘Intel Unite Client’ application and click Install.

Step 3 - Restart your computer.

Step 4 – Install the Intel Unite Client via web link.

Note: Skip this step if you have already installed the Intel Unite Client via Software Center.

Step 1 - Download the Intel Unite Client from the following link:

Note: If you are not on campus you must connect to UCF VPN to reach this download link.

Step 2 - Open the Downloads folder on your computer and double click the Intel Unite file.

Step 3 - Follow the steps in the installation window.

 

Note: You may need to also download and install .NET Framework 4.8

Presenting

Step 1 - Open the Intel Unite HUB on the classroom or conference room computer.

Step 2 - The 6-digit code in the top right corner will be needed when connecting from your laptop or device.

Note: Note this code changes every 5 minutes for security purposes but remains displayed in the top right corner while the Intel Unite HUB is running.

Step 3 - Open Intel Unite from your computer. *Note – Your computer must be on the secured UCF wireless network.  Intel Unite will not work from the “UCF-Guest” or any other non-UCF wireless network.

Note: The first time you use Intel Unite on your device, you may need to input your UCF email address.

Step 4 - Input the 6-digit code that is displayed on the classroom or conference room computer.

Step 5 - Once connected, click Present to mirror your screen onto the classroom or conference room computer.

Presentation Student View

Students can view the presentation on their own device if they are on the same network.  Intel Unite will not work from the “UCF-Guest” or any other non-UCF wireless network.

Step 1 – Install the Intel Unite Client on the student device.

Step 2 – Open the Intel Unite Client application.

 

Step 3 – Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the top right corner of the presentation screen.

Step 4 – Click view at the bottom of the screen.  If there are multiple presenters, they will be listed on the bottom of the screen.  Click the one you wish to view.

Extended Display

Step 1 – On the classroom or conference room computer, press W+P to bring up the projection options screen.  Select Extend.

Step 2 – Open the Intel Unite Client on your computer and enter the 6-digit presentation code form the classroom or conference room PC.

Step 3 – Click the three dots next to the Present button.

Step 4 - Select the screen you wish to present to and click Present.

 

Annotation

Annotation Controls from the Intel Unite HUB on the classroom computer.

When presenting from your laptop or device, the mouse on the classroom computer automatically becomes an annotation marker.  You will only be able to click on Annotation Options and Session Options with the classroom mouse.  All other control should be done from the client device.

Step 1 – On the classroom computer click the annotation option arrow at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2 - Select a color and begin annotating.  Annotations will automatically fade after a few seconds when Fade Annotation is enabled.

Step 1 – On your laptop or device, click the Annotation control button at the top of the screen. 

Note: The Intel Unite HUB on the classroom computer will not have access to these controls.

Meeting Lock

Session Settings can only be accessed from the Intel Unite HUB on the classroom computer.  Once the session is locked, no other participants will be able to join.

Step 1 - Click the Session Settings  button on the left of the Intel Unite HUB display.
