This article will guide you through migrating files from your department share into Microsoft Teams.
If you are unsure about completing this process, please reference the “How to Sync Microsoft Teams” knowledge base article.
Navigate to your department file share using “File Explorer”.
Select all files that need to be copied to your Microsoft Teams directory. If all files need to be selected, click one file then press “CTRL + A” to select all.
Right click on any of the selected files and click “Properties”.
Wait for “Size” to stop changing, ensure the number is less than 20 GB (20 Gigabytes) before proceeding.
IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you have at least as much space as “Size” on your device before transferring the files over.
If total file size is less than 20 GB, right click and select “Copy” or press “CTRL + C”
If total file size is greater than 20 GB, we recommend using the SharePoint Migration Tool (KB0013037)
Navigate to your Teams file share by clicking “University of Central Florida” folder located on the left-hand side of file explorer and the share you would like to access.
NOTE: If you are having trouble or have not synced your Microsoft Teams share to your device, please reference the “How to Sync Microsoft Teams” knowledge base article.
Inside the directory intended to paste the files, right click and click “Paste” or press “CTRL + V” to start pasting the files inside of the folder.
NOTE: This process may take some time depending on network speed and size of files. Ensure that the device remains powered on and connected to the network at all times during this process.
After files are finished copying, select all files that were transferred over. If the folder was empty before this process, press “CTRL + A” to select all files.
Right click and select “Properties”.
Wait for “Size” to stop changing. Ensure that “Size”, “Files”, and “Folders” match the number that was checked earlier to guarantee all files were copied over properly.
