How to download and install the Cisco AnyConnect client on a Linux workstation


This guide will provide information about downloading and installing the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for users that have a Linux workstation.

 

To Install and Set Up:

Use a web browser to and visit https://secure.vpn.ucf.edu

Sign in using your NID and NID password

 

If you are not automatically prompted to download the client, click Download & Install the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility client.

Click the Download for Linux button to save the installation package.

 

Click on the Save File button to save the installation package.

 

Locate the downloaded file and open the anyconnect-linux64-4.7.04056-core-vpn-wedeploy-k9.sh file. Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client requires sudo privileges to install.

 

Locate the directory where the file was downloaded, then run the appropriate sudo command to install the application: e.g., sudo sh ./anyconnect-linux64-4.7.64056-core-vpn-webdeploy-k9.sh

 

 

Using the VPN:  (or “Signing on to the VPN”?)

Once the install completes, locate the Cisco Anyconnect application on your desktop. Optionally, search for the AnyConnect client by typing in ‘anyconnect’. The client should appear. Double-click on the client to open it.

 

Once the client opens, type in secure.vpn.ucf.edu in the Connect to text box.

After clicking on the Connect button, your workstation will be connected to a UCF secure VPN connection.  You will be required to enter your NID and NID password.
