Important: If you are having issues finding the Add Student Email Alias request form on ServiceNow, first clear your browser cache, close and reopen your browser and click here for the direct link. Current and previous student employees need to use the Enterprise Email Alias request form to change their email aliases: https://go.ucf.edu/EnterpriseEmailAliasChangeRequest |
Students may request a personalized e-mail alias that matches their preferred/chosen name, or any name that uses valid address characters, in addition to their NID@ucf.edu e-mail account originally assigned by the University as the default email address. An alias is an additional e-mail address that you can use in order to be contacted. It is not a new mailbox; it is just a link to your existing mailbox.
For example, your “NID@ucf.edu” could set up an alias as “John-GoKnights@ucf.edu” and e-mail sent to either address would go to the same inbox.
When you are ready to create an e-mail alias follow the instructions below:
Go to it.ucf.edu

Before creating an alias, be sure of the following:
It is Not an E-mail Account: An alias is NOT adding a new e-mail account. It is simply another name at which your current UCF e-mail can be contacted. Your NID@ucf.edu e-mail address is still a valid address.
Be Professional: Keep your alias about you. Do not attempt to claim another identity. The email alias you choose will be your official email address for campus use. This email address will be delivered to professors, classmates, affiliates, and may be the email address posted on your resume. All UCF students by email policy 4-010 are required to use their official student email address to communicate with Registrars and other offices on campus. This email will be a part of your class projects and perspective employers. Choose wisely and make sure you understand this email represents your educational and professional online presence.
Alias Creation: Creating an email alias will take up to 24-48 hours to be created once submitted.
Your NID@ucf.edu E-mail Address: Your NID@ucf.edu e-mail address is still a valid address.
Valid Combination of Characters: Your alias can be any combination of letters, numbers, underscores, and hyphens. All other special characters, including periods are not allowed. First.LastName@ucf.edu is solely reserved for UCF Staff, Faculty and GTA/student employees. An alias can be between 1 and 20 characters.
It is Not Case Sensitive: So, capitalization does not matter when someone e-mails you. However, if you create “john-goknights@ucf.edu” it will show up in the global record as all lower case. Be sure to use proper capitalization such as “John-GoKnights@ucf.edu” if desired.
You Cannot Delete Aliases: Once you create one email alias as a UCF Student, you cannot remove it.
Change in my.ucf Portal: Your email will be listed as your new alias@ucf.edu in the my.ucf portal.
Change in UCF Campus Databases and Communications: Your new alias@ucf.edu will be added to official campus databases for applications and services, i.e., UCF Card Services, Library account, Webcourses, Zoom etc.
Please note: Until all campus databases and applications are updated, you will receive e-mail to your NID@ucf.edu address which will route e-mail to your account.
Creating an Alias Does Not Change Your NID login: Your new alias@ucf.edu will not replace your login for campus applications like Zoom or Webcourses.
Campus Bookstore: If you previously purchased books from the Campus bookstore under your NID@ucf.edu account, or your legacy Knights email address, they can still be accessed from those accounts.

Form Example:
Changing your primary sending email address will change the address that outgoing email will appear to have come from and where replies will be sent. The default business address will show up in the Outlook Contacts for the entire University. This means if someone searches for you, for example, they would see “John-GoKnights@ucf.edu” instead of “NID@ucf.edu”.
If you would like your alias to be your primary sending email address, you can select Yes or No on the form.
Please note: The request to create an email alias will take up to 24-48 hours to complete.
