Computer, Classroom, & Contact Information

In the lower right-hand corner of the desktop you will find useful information to identify the computer you are using, the location of the classroom, who is logged into the system, and contact information for support. UCF IT support staff may ask you for this information.

15-minute login timeout

Protecting your information: the 15-minute login timeout, and how to remain logged in during class.

In order to protect the integrity of your UCF NID account and your data in the classroom the computers are set to sign out after 15 minutes of inactivity. This help protect you if you accidently leave your account logged in at the end of your course. In the following scenarios the computer will see your activity and will not log you out.

If the system detects no activity for 15min you will be presented with the following warning message:

If you move the mouse or press any key this message will disappear, and the clock will reset. If no action is taken for 120 seconds the computer will automatically sign off.

Sign Out & Power Options

In many cases the computers in theses classrooms are located where you may not be able to reach the physical power button. For this reason, UCF IT has disabled the ability to turn off the computer so that it will not be accidently powered off and unavailable when the next person enters the room.

On the desktop of each machine, you will find a sign-out icon:

This icon allows you to sign out at the end of your session quickly and easily as well as the normal sign out options within the start menu.
