How to Create or Upload a file in OneDrive Online


 

The purpose of this document is to demonstrate how to upload and create documents in the online browser version of OneDrive.

Login to OneDrive Online

Login to OneDrive Online, After login click found in the Upper-Left corner of the page, then click OneDrive. Once signed in the client’s OneDrive Online portal will open in the web browser.

Uploading a file or folder to OneDrive.

On the home page of OneDrive Online selecting Upload will give the client the option to upload a new file or folder. After selecting file(s) or folder(s) OneDrive Online will open the file explorer and allow the client to select what they would like to upload.

NOTE: Selecting to upload a folder will upload all the contents within the folder.

Once the file(s) or folder(s) have been selected, OneDrive will display a prompt asking the client to confirm the upload. Select Upload to continue. OneDrive will then display that the items are being uploaded. Once the files are done uploading OneDrive will display a message notifying the client where the items were uploaded.

Drag and Drop

Items can also be uploaded to OneDrive by dragging and dropping the files from the File Explorer directly into the OneDrive home screen.

After dropping the file an “uploaded” notification will appear if the upload was successful.

Creating a New File in OneDrive Online

On the home page of OneDrive Online selecting New will give clients the option to create a new file or folder. The file can be a Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or OneNote file. Select the type of file you would like to create, and OneDrive will launch a version of the selected program inside of the browser.

Select the drop-down menu to change the name of the file created.
