SharePoint Site

1. Is SharePoint intended to be a single point of coordination for Microsoft Teams or is it recommended to use the Teams client for this purpose?

SharePoint Online and OneDrive are an integrated component of Teams for document storage and collaboration. The Teams application provides a central and more user friendly vessel to view documents stored in OneDrive.  However, if the Team Owner needs additional features or chooses to capitalize on the power of SharePoint online the site created by the Team is available for use. Each department and Team Owner can manage which features are used that best suit their needs and work flow.

2. Is document sharing at a global level available for the SharePoint site rather than just a single document for those not on the team?

Document Sharing is set at the Team Membership level for the SharePoint and OneDrive site. All Team members have equal and full access to all documents. Additional permissions can be set on the SharePoint site or documents within OneDrive for individuals that are not Team members.

3. Is it preferable to share files on SharePoint or Team OneDrive?

SharePoint and OneDrive are one and the same for the team. SharePoint is the web access process to provide a URL to OneDrive, which is where the documents are stored. To simply state it, all documents stored in SharePoint use OneDrive as the storage platform.
