How to connect your Linux device to the UCF wireless network (UCF_WPA2 or DTCampus)


This article will guide you through configuring WPA2 on a Linux machine.

Please click on InCommon Server CA Root to install the new certificate. When prompted, click the Open button.  On the Certificate page, click the “Install Certificate…” button and then follow the wizard.

Before Set Up

· Be sure your device drivers are up to date.

· Have your NID and NID password ready.

· Forgot your NID?

· Forgot your NID password?

Configuration

Configure your Linux machine using the instructions below:

Open the Network Manager: Press Alt+F2 to open the Run dialog. Type in: nm-connection-editor Press Enter and the nm-connection editor (/nm-applet) should open.

On the Wireless tab, click Add.

Fill in the connection information:

1. Connection name: Type in the name you prefer to call the connection

2. SSID: Type in UCF_WPA2 (or DTCampus if you are on the Downtown Campus), and Click Apply

3. Security: WPA&WPA2 Enterprise

4. Authentication: Protected EAP/PEAP

5. PEAP version: Automatic

6. Inner authentication: MSCHAPv2

7. Linux3Username: Your NID

8. Password: Your NID Password

9. Click Apply.

Wherever the nm-applet is located (based on your window/desktop manager and your individual settings) you will now see the wireless logo indicating the strength of your connection

Connection: Select the UCF_WPA2 network and sign on.

Your Username: Your NID (Don’t know your NID? ) Your Password: Your NID Password (Don’t know your NID password? ) Domain: NET

Tips

· The NID password expires every 60 days.

· Be sure your computer has the latest updates installed.
